Posted at 12:17 am by Lisa K, on May 3, 2021

Calm and quite under the sea

where it’s so dark and cold around me

I hold my breath and look to the surface

there is a soft light shining down with purpose.

The storm has receded and it’s time to regroup

all ready to deal with what I must recoup

swimming up it seems so far away

my arms feel like they are papier-mâché.

It must be close because the water is warm

the surface is sparkling like a perfect art form

the light, it draws me up and it feels so right

not like the depths below that are as cold as night.

I wave goodbye to the silence of the sea

because under the water is no place for me

my heart wants to cry and dance and sing

it wants to be a part of everything.

    • Lately

Posted at 12:37 pm by Lisa K, on February 8, 2021

Lately the isolation and smallness my world has been feeling as a result of our current situation in this pandemic has been constantly on my mind.
I think about the businesses suffering, the last time I went out to a store. The ways which people are coping with how their lives have been impacted, with feelings of powerlessness driving us each to find meaning. The sense of loss physically and mentally. It is painful. It hurts.
Then on our walks outside, I look around and wonder what it all means. Honestly, I dislike winter, the cold and darkness that comes with the season. But right now, it makes me feel alive. Walking outdoors reminds me of some important anchors of life.
The earth is resilient. A quality we all need to tap into before things get too much.
Each day, looking out at the beautiful way the sun chooses to come up, I feel that familiar admiration for the enduring nature and steadiness of our earth.
Regardless of the turmoil that may be happening, the sun rises and sets with magnificence, the seasons change and life rises and falls. Like a heartbeat, a rhythm for us to grasp onto, bringing the swirling impermanence of now back into some form of perspective. It grounds my thoughts for a short while and brings much needed peace to my mind.
While it isn’t the answer to all the problems of the world, it brings hope, strength and perspective back to ground me and help me make space to plan and strategize how to move forward within.
It’s a time to become inventive. A place to work out new ways to navigate and build on that fundamental quality that we as humans are innately capable- resilience.

I do have more to say about this, maybe soon. For now, go for a walk today, get outside for just a little bit. It could be good for you.

    • The Voice

Posted at 8:13 pm by Lisa K, on December 13, 2020

that little voice inside of you

that no one else can here

it whispers to you all day long

      it’s loving and sincere

      that voice it knows

      what’s right for you

      when you should say no

when it’s time to let things go

      or how to follow through

no one else can tell you

      or inspire that feeling inside

that inner voice within your heart

trust it to always be your guide

    • sometimes I wonder…

Posted at 12:38 am by Lisa K, on December 10, 2020

      sometimes I wonder…
why must the heart feel such anguish?
why is there suffering and pain?
what is it that this life for?
what are we here to attain?
      .
what would empathy be without sadness?
how would we feel compassion without knowing hurt?
      .
      sometimes I wonder…
why can my heart feel so full of joy?
why does love drive so deep there are no words?
why do we experience such emotions?
what are we to learn from the unspoken?
      .
what is hope if we don’t know love?
how can there be kindness without knowing sympathy?
      .
      sometimes I wonder…

Posted at 4:56 pm by Lisa K, on August 13, 2020

      her throat felt swollen

      tight with a lump

      things that she felt

      just wouldn’t come out

she tucked it away and ignored it

but the feelings continued to stew

if she left it for too long

worse things would start to brew

a vice grip on her emotions

she tried to forget them and go on

      further away she pushed herself

      until she was withdrawn

      it spread into her psyche

her worth was marred in doubt

      she told herself stories

there seemed to be no way out

      when it got too much

she’d fix enough to get her through

but soon that wasn’t good enough

there was more work she had to do

      slowly she worked and soon

it was clear what had to be done

she had to find her courage

not continue to try and run

      she searched for her courage

      her thoughts began to change

she dug deep down to find it

things no longer felt so strange

      that familiar feeling of knowing

      expressing herself without fear

once again found its rightful place

and all the worry could disappear

    • The Meaning of Love♥️

Posted at 8:50 pm by Lisa K, on August 2, 2020

What does it mean to be ‘in love’?

Is it when two people give love to each other without expectation? Or does it mean to give it with the assumption of love in return?
It sounds difficult to give something so intensely without reciprocation. But when we give of ourselves this way, it can lead to disappointment.
If love is to be meant to be given without expectation,
it seems that despite its strength, love exists with fragility. One that requires continual nurturing to maintain balance and strength.
      .
When I think about giving love
      I want to be…
giving of my heart, to listen,
to be thoughtful, supportive, kind, to appreciate, admire, respect and most importantly to be able to see underneath it all, the beauty of the person within.
When we give this gift to each other,
it creates the most beautiful bond where
      unconditional love will flourish.
It will go on and continue to
gain strength because it is given independently,
and is continually nurtured by the two
people who wish for it to last.
Love is freely met by Love♥️

What do you think about that?

    • Hope is a light✨

Posted at 11:25 pm by Lisa K, on May 1, 2020

Hope is a light that shines from within

It keeps me going when strife creeps in

When I feel uneasy or anxiety comes up

It’s what I cling to when feelings run amuck

The frayed edges of doubt make me insecure

my mind is spinning and I feel unsure

I breathe in deeply and focus inside

soon hope will find me and be my guide

An ocean of currents brings unknowns

the  sea in my mind is in a cyclone

anchoring down I plead for some peace

just then my light ignites and a great hope is released

    • The Umbrella

Posted at 10:58 pm by Lisa K, on December 27, 2019

      I looked at the window

It was blurred by the rain

      It was unrelenting and loud

As it whipped up on the pane

      I stood there and stared

      The moment was long

      Like a slow motion movie

      I felt something was wrong

      You were standing alone

      Under your umbrella out there

It was strange to see you

The wind was blowing your hair

I ran out to stand with you

      So you wouldn’t be alone

      Storms come and they go

      What they bring is unknown

      We’ll weather that storm

      Strong together us two

      No matter what happens

I will be there for you.

    • Jaded Faith✨

Posted at 4:22 pm by Lisa K, on December 1, 2019

      Looking desperately for something

      Imagine what could it be?

Just a place to feel loved

Where there is not any fee

      .

      Where appearances are nothing

But the look in your eye

      That alluring beauty within

      Far too bright to deny

      .

      Things that look perfect

      Are not what they seem

      If you aren’t careful

      Harsh judgments will stream

      .

      Everyone has shadows

      A darkness they keep

      And those stares of disapproval

      Gouge down far too deep

      .

      Faith in true goodness

It’s been lost for some time

      Everyone is looking

So they can’t be taken while blind

      .

But when it’s real it’s ignored

      Like it can’t possibly persist

      Nothing seems to be trusted

      How can we all exist?

      .

      Give faith to that feeling

      You know it inside

      Your gut isn’t lying

      Don’t enable fear to decide

      .

      It’s real, feel it,

      it wants you to see

That if you will receive it

      Forever true it will be
