Calm and quite under the sea

where it’s so dark and cold around me

I hold my breath and look to the surface

there is a soft light shining down with purpose.

The storm has receded and it’s time to regroup

all ready to deal with what I must recoup

swimming up it seems so far away

my arms feel like they are papier-mâché.

It must be close because the water is warm

the surface is sparkling like a perfect art form

the light, it draws me up and it feels so right

not like the depths below that are as cold as night.

I wave goodbye to the silence of the sea

because under the water is no place for me

my heart wants to cry and dance and sing

it wants to be a part of everything.

      Looking desperately for something

      Imagine what could it be?

Just a place to feel loved

Where there is not any fee

      .

      Where appearances are nothing

But the look in your eye

      That alluring beauty within

      Far too bright to deny

      .

      Things that look perfect

      Are not what they seem

      If you aren’t careful

      Harsh judgments will stream

      .

      Everyone has shadows

      A darkness they keep

      And those stares of disapproval

      Gouge down far too deep

      .

      Faith in true goodness

It’s been lost for some time

      Everyone is looking

So they can’t be taken while blind

      .

But when it’s real it’s ignored

      Like it can’t possibly persist

      Nothing seems to be trusted

      How can we all exist?

      .

      Give faith to that feeling

      You know it inside

      Your gut isn’t lying

      Don’t enable fear to decide

      .

      It’s real, feel it,

      it wants you to see

That if you will receive it

      Forever true it will be

    • The Missing Piece

Posted at 3:48 pm by Lisa K, on October 20, 2019

With so many on the table

      How could you already know

That an important piece is missing

You can’t go on until it shows

I scramble to turn them all over

Try to see the picture in my mind

      Nothing comes up clearly

      I don’t think it’s something I can find

      Life can be so dirty

A mess you can’t seem to keep clean

Trying to make some sense of it

To know what it all could mean

      I step back for perspective

There’s no rush to know it all

      Sitting with an uneasy feeling

But knowing that it’s still safe to fall

Cause you’ll be there to catch me

I feel you gently let me down

At least I’m not alone here

And I like the way that sounds

That piece that had been missing

There’s no worry cause it’s here

All that time I spent wondering

Now everything is sweet and clear

    • Self Love

Posted at 1:43 am by Lisa K, on May 6, 2018
      Self Love
      Born into this world,
We know the gifts that we possess,
The Love that we are capable of,
How to find our way to bliss.
But as we grow there is doubt,
A strange feeling that is unknown,
It hurts to feel its wrath,
      And defensive ways will grow.
      The soul cannot interpret evil,
The pain is far too great,
It shrivels up and sinks down,
By the hurt that comes from hate.
A sheath of protection must ensue,
But the edges may be frayed,
      Patterns begin to fester,
      And the soul becomes afraid.
      Realization of this war,
      Brings sadness but not defeat,
      Our light begins to burn,
So strongly that it won’t deplete.
Love brings all beings to their knees,
And the soul knows this best,
It pours love from every seam,
Sadness can no longer  act to suppress.
Beauty, faith and Love grow strong,
      Trust and honesty are high,
All the feels that are meant to be,
      Become our greatest in supply.
      Words are only letters,
Do you feel the light ignite your soul?
      Remember the most important one,
It’s only you who can make you whole.

    • That Christmas Feeling

Posted at 2:41 am by Lisa K, on December 24, 2017

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve!!! We are away holidaying at a ski resort for Christmas this year.  Usually we go down south but we wanted to try a winter holiday this year.  Though I am with the people I consider to be the essence of my existence, I do miss our family that we will not see over the next few days.  I feel love, hope and enthusiasm for the coming new year and felt some inspiration for a poem.  Hope you are having a wonderful time, celebrating life, love and all the important things at this special time of year!!

      That Christmas Feeling

      The snow begins to fall,
Gracefully feathering down to the ground,
The night is lit up with coloured lights,
Eyes are wide for every child in town.

The carols play over the radio,
Bringing back memories of this time,
A sweet nostalgic feeling to embrace,
The scent of evergreen is in its prime.

School is out for the holidays,
Children play and eat the snow,
No care in the world is what they have,
Carefree and happy feelings is what they know.

A time for friends and family,
Smiles and hugs will fill your days,
      Chocolates and sweet cookies,
Love is shown in so many beautiful ways.

      Thinking about what’s important,
Squeezing close with those held dear,
Don’t forget to look into their eyes,
And let them know that you are near.

Love is the reason for all this fuss,
Don’t let the purpose become skewed,
Let your loved ones know how you feel,
And your feelings show their magnitude.

I love you now, today and tomorrow,
I will love you forever more.
My heart is full when we’re together,
You make me feel like I could soar.

Merry Christmas to you my friend,
      May your holiday be sweet,
      Enjoy making new memories,
      That forever you may keep.

Keep smiling my gorgeous friends, Love to you all.  We are all human beings, craving understanding, connection and above all Love.  I feel it and it is so beautiful.  Kiss and hug your loved ones!!!

      Much Love,

    • Time For School, My Baby Girl

Posted at 12:34 am by Lisa K, on September 4, 2017

It seems slightly comical to me that even though my daughter is only 4 years old and starting JK this week, I feel like it is such a big step in growing up.  As the summer started, I thought, no big deal, she’s ready, she’s got this.  As we made our way into August, my heart really changed tune!  So in expressing my thoughts on the moment she leaves me for many years of school, I would like to share a poem.  Maybe some moms out there can relate to my feeling too💖

Time For School, My Baby Girl

      It seems like just yesterday,
I looked down at my little girl,
      Just a baby sleeping peacefully,
Without a care in the world.

      It’s only been four years,
      But so much has changed,
      I almost can’t remember,
      How my life’s been rearranged.

      So bright and animated,
With eyes blue like the sky,
A smile that captures my heart,
Her little giggle is a piece of art.

With a memory like an elephant,
She really keeps me on my toes,
An old soul is inside of her,
There is so much she already knows.

A gift of light to my heart,
She’s like a thunderbolt in the sky,
Our souls have always been together,
And I have never wondered why.

My baby girl is going to school,
      The first big separation,
      I’ve shed tears of sadness,
But for her it’s another equation.

She’s bright and ready to shine,
      So inquisitive and smart,
I can’t wait to see her blossom,
And life without me is about to start!

Best of luck to all the little ones who start school this year.  Hugs to all the mommies who will miss them when they go! xx xx

    • My Daddy

Posted at 2:41 am by Lisa K, on June 18, 2017

He held me tight in his big arms,
      That morning I was born,
I’ve asked him how he felt that day,
He said Love made his heart so warm.

      I’ll never forget the time,
He taught me how to tie my shoes,
Or when he brought my first bike home,
And when he painted my new room.

Outside he looks hard and stern,
But inside he’s thoughtful and kind,
Few may witness his deep softness,
The way his daughters are inclined.

When tears streamed down my face,
He’d wipe them away with his hands,
And softly say to make me know,
      Don’t cry- Daddy understands.

He walked me down the isle,
      On my beautiful wedding day,
And he sang to me when we danced,
What a beautiful song he chose to play.

He was always ready to cheer me on,
Patiently listen when I was sad,
His strength and Love were always there,
I’m so grateful that he’s my Dad.

    • Why Do You Love Your Mom?

Posted at 10:52 pm by Lisa K, on May 13, 2017

When you were growing inside of her,
You listened contently to her heart,
Took great comfort in her voice,
You thought you’d never be apart.

Then you came out into the world,
Your blurry view caught her smiling eyes,
When they placed you on her chest,
The fear dissolved with no more cries.

As you grew you felt her love,
It helped you on your way,
Each new step you learned to take,
By your side you knew she’d stay.

When your were sad or feeling hurt,
She held you tight on her knee,
No one could take away from you,
The beauty she would always see.

The many nights she stayed up and worried,
Keeping much of what she felt inside,
Always hoping that she taught you well,
That what you knew to be right wasn’t denied.

Then you grew up and had your own,
Your heart has been overwhelmed by love,
All the times you overlooked her work,
Knowing now there could be nothing above.

      Look into your mother’s eyes,
And hold her close and tight,
The bond you share is like no other,
You feel the glory of pure love in all its light.

    • Where Does Love Flow?

Posted at 2:15 pm by Lisa K, on April 11, 2017

Look into my eyes, look far and wide and deep.
You see a long horizon line with an ever growing reach.
Searching up you see a sky of love so radiant and bright,
Peering down, a warmth and grace so soft,
      With beaming effulgent light.

      Viewing across the line,
      to the very farthest east,
a rising calm of fond compassion,
there’s no fear in you to say the least.

Upon the west your eyes will dwell,
      your being feels enraptured,
With gorgeous faith and exquisite love,
      Your senses are absolutely captured.

Like lightening strikes you see clearly now,
It’s your own eyes in the mirror,
      With astonishment and disbelief,
You see that love flows so much nearer.

      Searching up and down,
Side to side your gaze will leap,
You realize that without a doubt,
This gift in YOU is yours to keep.
